Miami returns to the ACC schedule on Friday night to face Wake Forest following a dominant 77-7 victory over Florida A&M. The duel takes place at Allegacy Financial Stadium in Winston-Salem and has attracted the attention of bettors and projection analysts.

Recent history and conference standing

The Hurricanes arrive with a 2-0 record and sit in second place in the ACC, while the Demon Deacons are also undefeated (2-0) and rank seventh. Miami has won the last eight games against Wake Forest; Wake Forest's last win against Miami happened in 1944.

Offensive and defensive performance

Miami stands out for its defense, which ranks 11th in NCAA Division I, allowing 203 total yards and just 6.5 points per game. Defensive end Marquise Lightfoot leads the team with 11 tackles, including a seven-yard sack, and the squad has already recorded three sacks in the first two games.

Wake Forest, meanwhile, showed resilience by overcoming Purdue 38-36 in double overtime. Quarterback Gio Lopez was largely responsible for the team's 225 passing yards and 59 rushing yards.

Odds and betting projections

At sportsbooks, Miami enters as a 20.5-point favorite. The total points line is set at 55.5, five points above the opening line. The SportsLine projection model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, indicates 47 combined points, suggesting that the Under (below 55.5) will hit in 66% of the simulations.

In addition to the Under, the model points out that one side of the spread will cover in 60% of the simulations, reinforcing expectations that Miami will maintain the projected advantage.

What to expect from the matchup

Considering Miami's defensive strength, the average points allowed, and Wake Forest's offensive performance, the trend points to a game with fewer points than the proposed total. The 20.5-point advantage for the Hurricanes also reflects the difference in performance over the first two weeks of the season.
