September 7th Parade in João Pessoa: Schedule and Mobility

The September 7th civic parade in João Pessoa officially begins at 7:15 AM, with the presentation of troops from the Navy, Army, Military Police, and Fire Department, followed by the inspection of the troops. The parade itself starts at 8 AM on Duarte da Silveira Avenue and ends at noon with the extinguishing of the symbolic Homeland Flame. At 6 PM, the ceremony for lowering the National Flag will be held by an officer of the Military House, accompanied by the Palace Guard.

Roadblocks and urban mobility

The Superintendency of Urban Mobility of João Pessoa (Semob-JP) is mobilizing 120 agents to control traffic. The roadblocks will begin at 5 AM, three hours before the parade starts, and will include the Lagoa area, Getúlio Vargas Avenue, and Duarte da Silveira Avenue, extending to Clemente Rosas Avenue. During the closure, vehicle traffic will not be allowed along the parade route.

Changes to bus routes

Public transportation will operate on a Sunday schedule with 52 lines in service, representing an approximate 60% reduction in the fleet, with about 40% of vehicles circulating. Lines that normally run along Beira Rio Avenue will be detoured to Epitácio Pessoa Avenue, and lines running between the Downtown area and the South Zone will use Dom Pedro II Avenue. Additionally, lines running along the Cruz das Armas, 2 de Fevereiro, Pedro II, Beira Rio, Epitácio Pessoa, Tancredo Neves, and Acesso Oeste corridors will have their itineraries modified, taking alternative routes to the Varadouro Integration Terminal (TIV).

What's open and closed

Mangabeira and Manaíra malls will maintain their operating hours from 10 AM to 10 PM. Tambiá Mall will remain open, while Mag Shopping will operate from 1 PM to 9 PM, with the food court open from 11:30 AM to 10 PM and the cinema from 1 PM to 10 PM. Sebrae Shopping will open from 11 AM to 8 PM, and its food court will operate from 12 PM to 8 PM. Liv Mall has not yet released its schedule. Bank branches as well as municipal and state public offices will remain closed this Monday, resuming on Tuesday. The Court of Justice of Paraíba and the Regional Labor Prosecutor's Office will not have office hours, while the Regional Electoral Court will maintain a judicial duty roster only for urgent cases. The capital's VLT (light rail) will be suspended, resuming on Tuesday at 4:30 AM. The Arruda Câmara Zoobotanical Park and the Benjamin Maranhão Botanical Garden will be closed.

Recommendations for the public

There will be no bleachers at this year's event. Spectators are advised to bring chairs, water, and sun protection, especially the elderly and those who have difficulty standing for long periods. Semob-JP advises those who need to use private vehicles to avoid Duarte da Silveira Avenue and look for parking on side streets. The 120 mobility agents will be distributed throughout the area to guide drivers and pedestrians during the entire period.
